For every model we track, we fit a fair-value curve on the live adverts — what this car, at this age and mileage, actually changes hands around — and then compare it with what sellers are asking. Most of the time the two agree. The interesting rows are where they don’t.
Below are the models where the median asking price sits furthest above the fitted value: cars where, on the middle of the market, the window sticker is writing cheques the metal doesn’t cash. A positive gap doesn’t mean nobody should buy one — it means the asking prices have drifted, and there is more room to negotiate than the adverts suggest.

Method, in one paragraph
Fair values are quantile-regression fits on mileage and year over every live advert we track for a model — no trade book, no survey, just the market’s own asking prices with the outliers handled properly. “Typical asking” is the median advert. Only models with at least 100comparable listings make the table, because a gap measured on thin data is a rumour, not a finding. The numbers refresh with every market sweep, so this page disagrees with itself over time — that’s the feature.
